FOUR FREEDOMS

Duke Ellington described the four freedoms he tried to live by when he accepted the Presidential Medal Of Freedom from Richard Nixon, as the following:

Freedom from hate, unconditionally.

Freedom from self-pity.

Freedom from fear, of possibly doing something that would help others more than himself.

Freedom from the kind of pride that would make a man feel he is better than his brother.

"Yes, you can be a dreamer and a doer too, if you will remove one word from your vocabulary: impossible." -- Robert Schuller

"To grow, you must be willing to let your present and future be totally unlike your past. Your history is not your destiny." -- Alan Cohen
